The Katikati Trails Development Group, who is a group of cycling enthusiasts, are working with Western Bay of Plenty District Council to develop more walk and cycle ways in Katikati for the public to use. We all know the benefits of getting out and active, both physical and mental.
As cycling is currently “ the new golf” the development of good trails will bring people to ride in our area and enjoy all the great things Katikati has to offer.
At the moment the focus is on the urban trails, linking roads and off road tracks. There are about 20Km of off and on road tracks around Katikati showcasing beautiful harbour views, Haiku Pathway, Birdwalk sculptures and like in Katikati.
We are also looking at ways to connect from Waihi Beach all the way through to Omokoroa. There are several options on the table however the route of preference would be to get all the way along the harbours edge.
The Katikati Trails Development Group meet monthly. If you are interested in being involved contact Jacqui on 07 549 5250.
