Since our inception we have had a focus on the Main Street precinct of Katikati. To be fair sometimes this focus has been stronger than other times.
We 100% support the need for a Main Street bypass so that our retailers and Main Street businesses can flourish. As we don’t seem to be making any headway with the bypass, we really want to see the Main Street area tidied. New footpaths, reduced Main Street parking creating more green spaces, the tar-sealing of the Kotahi Lane carpark so that it can actually be used, the development of a market square and a town centre that is easier to navigate around.
We have an opportunity to create a village feel to our town and we keep hopeful that the 2022 Town Centre Plan will action some of these issues.
